The White Sox went 3-2 last week as they scored 28 runs and allowed 28 runs.  The Sox finally got some timely hitting last week as they seem to be coming out of their year long batting slump.  The White Sox entered this week with a 24-21 record which had them in 3rd place in the American League Central, 5.5 games behind the Indians.

The Chicago White Sox place Pablo Ozuna on the DL

The White Sox have lost Pablo Ozuna as he fractured his right fibula and tore a ligament in his ankle rounding a base.  He could be done for the season as he will miss at least three months.  In 27 games this season, Ozuna was 19 for 78 (.244 avg, .562 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 3 RBIs and 3 stolen bases.  This is a big loss for the White Sox as Ozuna was a very valuable utility man for them.

The Chicago White Sox demote Andrew Sisco

The White Sox have demoted Andrew Sisco to the minor leagues and he deserved it based on how he pitched.  In 19 games this season, Sisco is 0-1 with a 8.36 ERA and a 2.14 WHIP.  In 14 innings with the Pale Hose, Sisco allowed 19 hits, walked 11 batters and whiffed 13.  Hopefully Sisco will work on his control in the minors because he has great stuff but it won’t matter if he can’t throw strikes.

The Chicago White Sox have signed Craig Wilson

The White Sox have signed 1b/OF Craig Wilson to a minor league contract.  He had been released by the Atlanta Braves after a getting off to a poor start to the season.  In 24 games for the Braves, Wilson was 10 for 58 (.172 avg, .563 OPS) with 6 runs scored, 1 homer and 2 RBIs.  Wilson also whiffed an amazing 25 times this season!  Look for the White Sox to benefit from taking a gamble on a good young player as Wilson will help them at some point this season.

Ryan Sweeney could get another shot soon for the Chicago White Sox

Blogged under Front Page, The Minors, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Sunday 27 May 2007 at 9:22 am

22 year old lefty swinging outfielder Ryan Sweeney has had a cup of coffee early this season with the Pale Hose and his numbers weren’t that good.  In 15 games, he was 9 for 45 (.200 avg, .599 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 1 homer and 5 RBIs.  But, Ozzie Guillen loved the way the hard nosed Sweeney played the game so he will be back the first time the Sox need an outfielder.  Sweeney has played in 25 games in AAA ball this season and he’s 28 for 98 (.286 avg, .801 OPS) with 10 runs scored, 3 homers, 11 RBIs and 2 stolen bases.
