The Chicago White Sox claim Manny Ramirez off waivers
The White Sox have claimed 38-year old righty swinging LF/DH Manny Ramirez off waivers. The White Sox didn’t have to give up anything for Ramirez but they will pay him the remainder of the $3.8 million bucks that he’s owed for the 2010 season. Ramirez will be the new full time DH for the White Sox. He played in 66 games this year for the Dodgers and he was 61 of 196 (.311 avg, .915 OPS) with 32 runs scored, 8 homers and 40 RBIs. Ramirez has now played in 2,273 games in his major league career and he is 2,555 of 8,158 (.313 avg, 1.000 OPS) with 1,538 runs scored, 554 homers, 1,828 RBIs and 38 stolen bases. This was a outstanding move for the White Sox as Manny ususally plays better when the games mean something down the stretch and in the playoffs.
I just don’t see how a team will offer him a multi-years deal
