The Chicago White Sox sign Corey Smith
The White Sox have signed 29-year old righty swinging 3B/1B Corey Smith to a minor league deal. Smith played in 120 games in AA+AAA-ball for the Dodgers last year and he was 104 of 399 (.261 avg, .691 OPS) with 60 runs scored, 10 homers, 46 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. He has now played in 1,465 games in his first 12 years in the minors and he is 1,399 of 5,414 (.258 avg, .752 OPS) with 713 runs scored, 182 homers, 823 RBIs and 89 stolen bases. Smith was once a top prospect, so be might be a late bloomer.
