The White Sox have signed 28-year old righty swinging catcher Damaso Espino to a minor league deal. Espino played in 65 games in AAA-ball last year and he was 59 of 202 (.292 avg, .728 OPS) with 28 runs scored, 4 homers, 32 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. He has now played in 894 games in his first 12 years in the minors and he is 826 of 3,100 (.266 avg, .658 OPS) with 314 runs scored, 16 homers, 398 RBIs and 33 stolen bases. The White Sox will likely stash Espino in AAA in 2012.

The White Sox have signed 29-year old righty swinging 3B/1B Corey Smith to a minor league deal. Smith played in 120 games in AA+AAA-ball for the Dodgers last year and he was 104 of 399 (.261 avg, .691 OPS) with 60 runs scored, 10 homers, 46 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. He has now played in 1,465 games in his first 12 years in the minors and he is 1,399 of 5,414 (.258 avg, .752 OPS) with 713 runs scored, 182 homers, 823 RBIs and 89 stolen bases. Smith was once a top prospect, so be might be a late bloomer.

The Chicago White Sox deal Jason Frasor to the Blue Jays

The White Sox continue the massive salary dumping by dealing 34-year old righty reliever Jason Frasor back to the Blue Jays for 20-year old righty starter/reliever Myles Jaye and 22-year old righty starter/reliever Daniel Webb. Frasor pitched in 20 games (0 starts) for the White Sox last year and he was 1-2 with a 5.09 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP. He pitched in 64 games (0 starts) overall last year for the White Sox & Blue Jays and he was 3-3 with a 3.60 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. Myles Jaye pitched in 13 games (9 starts) in rookie ball last year for the Blue Jays and he was 3-3 with 1 save, a 3.00 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Daniel Webb pitched in 19 games in rookie+A-ball last year and he was 4-5 with 2 saves, a 5.48 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP. He has now pitched in 34 games (27 starts) in his first two years in the minors and he is 5-12 with 2 saves, a 5.11 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP.
