Brent Lillibridge has been awful for the Chicago White Sox

26-year old righty swinging SS/2B Brent Lillibridge was the #8 rated prospect in the White Sox’ minor league system heading into this season according to Baseball America. But he hasn’t proved worthy of that rating this season for the White Sox. He has played in 41 games for the White Sox this season and he is 13 for 80 (.163 avg, .460 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 1 RBI and 5 stolen bases. The White Sox have a lot of players ahead of Lillibridge so he will have to pick up his play to get on the field in the future for the Pale Hose.

Alex Rios has been awful for the Chicago White Sox

28-year old righty swinging outfielder Alex Rios has been downright awful for the Chicago White Sox. Rios has played in 31 games for the Pale Hose and he is 17 for 110 (.155 avg, .386 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 1 homer, 4 RBIs and 1 stolen base. The White Sox are on the hook for a lot of money with Rios so they need to coach him up and get him to turn things around. GM Kenny Williams rolled the dice with Rios and he’s come up with Snake Eyes so far.

Chicago White Sox still alive…barely

The Chicago White Sox have not played up to manager Ozzie Guillen’s expectations this year, but that doesn’t mean the season is over for the White Sox…yet.  With 17 games left to play the White Sox are 5.5 games back of the Tigers, so a big-time winning streak combined with some Detroit losses is desperately needed.  Its the only hope the White Sox have.  They do have six games left against the Tigers, with three at home to finish out the 2009 season.  So, if the White Sox can get within two or three games of the Tigers before their final series at home against them, they have a fighting chance.  The Twins are still in the hunt too, as they are 4.5 games back, but they lost star catcher Justin Morneau for the year as well as 3B Joe Crede as they both have bad backs.  Hopefully for Sox fans they can make a run and turn that final series at home into an exciting and worthwhile one.  It would be quite a comeback, and the White Sox better pray for a Tigers collapse.

The Chicago White Sox are losing patience with Josh Fields

Josh Fields started the season pretty well but he has been just plain awful as of late. He has played in 41 games for the White Sox so far this season and he is 35 for 153 (.229 avg, .607 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 2 homers and 16 RBIs. Fields has looked helpless at times this season as he has whiffed 48 times already. The bad thing for the White Sox is that every time they try to give Wilson Betemit a chance to take the job away from Fields he displays a iron mitt. They might have to look outside the organization if they choose to replace Fields in the starting lineup.

Paul Konerko’s playing time will be more sparse the rest of the season for the Chicago White Sox

Blogged under General, Front Page, In Need of a Slumpbuster, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Thursday 31 July 2008 at 4:54 pm

Paul Konerko has been slumping all season long and the White Sox have decided that they have seen enough. Nick Swisher will be moving to 1B from CF with Ken Griffey Jr. coming to town. Konerko has played in 79 games for the White Sox this season and he is 63 for 295 (.214 avg, .661 OPS) with 34 runs scored, 9 homers and 35 RBIs. Konerko will likely lose a lot of playing time now as the White Sox don’t have a spot for him in the lineup unless someone gets hurt.
