24-year old righty swinging 3B Brent Morel didn’t show much with the bat from April through August this year, but he’s raking so far in September. Morel has played in 9 games so far in September and he is 9 for 30 (.300 avg, 1.033 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 3 homers and 8 RBIs. He has now played in 108 games overall this year and he is 91 for 358 (.254 avg, .627 OPS) with 34 runs scored, 5 homers, 30 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. The White Sox are impressed that the light has finally come on at the plate for Morel, and they hope he continues to rake the rest of the month so that they can feel comfortable with him as the starting 3B in 2012.

34-year old lefty swinging LF Juan Pierre has really paid back manager Ozzie Guillen’s confidence in him. GM Kenny Williams wanted to bring up Dayan Viciedo to replace Pierre in LF, but Guillen said no. No one plays harder than Juan Pierre. Since July 1st, Pierre is 79 for 251 (.315 avg) with 40 runs scored, 1 homer, 25 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. He has now played in 140 games overall this year and he is 162 for 568 (.285 avg, .675 OPS) with 75 runs scored, 2 homers, 45 RBIs and 25 stolen bases.

27-year old lefty swinging outfielder Alejandro de Aza is off to a good start for the White Sox. He has played in 25 games for the White Sox so far this year and he is 21 of 69 (.304 avg, .835 OPS) with 10 runs scored, 2 homers, 10 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. de Aza has been a nice surprise for the White Sox as they called him up to put pressure on Alex Rios. He has not only done that but he has helped them wherever he has been needed. Look for him to continue to get decent P.T. as long as he keeps hitting.

Paul Konerko makes it to the All-Star team after all to represent the Chicago White Sox

35-year old righty swinging 1B Paul Konerko won the “Final Vote” by fans which adds him to the All-Star team roster next week. Konerko deserved this honor as he has been ripping the ball so far this year. Konerko has played in 85 games so far this year and he is 100 for 313 (.319 avg, .961 OPS) with 40 runs scored, 22 homers, 64 RBIs and 1 stolen base. This will be Konerko’s fifth trip to the All-Star Game in his major league career and I think he will help the American League if given the chance to play in the game.
